do farmers in Canada dye radish with potassium per

You wrote a lot about health benefits of radish, that\'s great. But I\'m curious and anxious, too, could you help me? Today i washed a bunch of small red radishes that I bought in Food Basic, then left them in a white bowl for some time. To my unpleasant surprise, when I returned to it I saw that the water that run from the radishes\' skin was a bright purple color, very similar to the solution of potassium permanganate. Just like the latter, the color quickly changed to almost violet in open air. Does this mean that Canadian farmers use permanganate to make the radishes look more appealing and have a nicer color? an awful thought... If you know anything about this, please share your knowledge. Thanks in advance, Anxious-about-Radish-benefits

Sherry: I buy two huge bunches of radishes and I put them through a food processor or juicer. I add the pulpy juice to my salad dressings, I make green tea and add it with lemon (one of the best citrus fruits). I am so used to pungent that I can drinks 2 cups of it at a time. Just incorporate it in your meals throughout the day.

The healthiest part of the radish is the leaf. It needs to be cleaned very well, chopped and added to other greens like spinach. Add sliced radish and make an Italian salad dressing using the radish juice as a substitute for vinegar (which is also extremely good for you). You will need to sweeten this, I use Mandarin oranges and the juice. Top off the salad with some olives and some feta cheese. What a Salad.

Mix through your juicer 3 Goosberry (Amla) + 2 ripe tomato + 1 cucumber + 2 carrot + 2 cloves garlic and small piece ginger to get a great drink which masks the pungent radish flavour. Your liver will become normal after the first drink.

certain vegetables

Certain vegetables are all around health superstars. They include celery, cucumber, beets, cabbage, and radishes. If you are lucky enough to like these and are willing to clean and eat them regularly you will age slowly and heal quickly. Except for beets, these are best eaten raw in copious quantities- you can never eat enough of them to harm yourself because you will get full long before that happens. When it comes to juices, let your taste buds be your guide. If the juice to too pungent to drink, just eat the vegetable raw instead of juicing. I have had great luck with a mixture of celery and cucumber juice, heavier on the cucumber, unwaxed and unpeeled. Balances and alkalinizes the body and might just be what you need to lose weight, fight disease, look younger. Throwing 2 radishes in there probably would not taste bad, the cuke/celery combo is quite delicious. My strategy is to eat a bowl of raw vegetables before a meal with a bit of lemon juice or vinegar. A good way to get enough fiber and nutrients while reducing the urge to consume more high calorie foods than I really need. My love of vegetables has kept my weight in the normal range my entire life. I really appreciate this comprehensive list of the benefits of radishes, one of my favorite foods!

About 4 years ago I got a very bad viral flu bug. After I got well I started craving radishes. At first it was about 20 a week. Now it is any where near 120 to 150 radishes a week. The more stressed I am the more radishes I want. They call me the radish lady at our grocery store. This can\'t be normal??!!

Hi, I am from Poland, and usually we eat red and white radishes sliced and mixed with sour cream & salt. The black radishes we grate real fine and mix it with sour cream & some salt. Sometime we make roses out of radishes & put little bit of sweet or salted butter on top.
They look festive & are easy t make.

Hi, I would be very surprised finding out of anyone putting color in radish, that is not necessary because radish already has a color, I believe I have seen in a past (in Poland where I Come from) radishes color the water, and I am sure they were not colored artificially,
that would be unheard of, in Poland, especially so many years ago.

radishes

I have been eating about 10 radishes a day for the past 2 years. I love them and they satisfy my hunger! The problem is that when I went to my doctor for my yearly check-up, she told me my thyroid was enlarged. I was sent for tests and they all came out negative. I am 51 years old and feel very healthy. I am not overweight and I exercise daily. I read online that radishes are goitergens, which means that they can inhibit the proper function of the thyroid. Does anyone know anything about this, and should I stop eating the amount of radishes I eat per day? I\'m thinking by eating all the radishes I do that I\'m hurting my thyroid. Anyone know anything about this?

\"Too much of a good thing is bad for you\" This overused expression does have some merit. Nothing should be eaten unhealthily high quantities. I am not sure if there is even a limit on how many radishes one should eat, but I know that there are many secondary metabolites in plants that have not been studied. Many of these trace compounds cause no effects when consumed in normal quantities but may cause physiological changes when consumed in larger amounts. Please be careful, but once again I do not know the specifics of radishes by any means.
