Home remedies for Alcoholism include usage of celery, grape juice, dates, lemon, honey, orange juice, willow bark, banana, apple, bitter gourd, ginger root, coffee etc in different forms. It is also advisable to avoid smoking, engage in physical exercise and have plenty of water etc. Alcoholism implies the tendency of consuming alcohol to the extent of addiction. It becomes a necessity to the individual and it appears as an urge. The person loses mental balance and several other body reactions cause further damage. There are home remedies which help in removing toxins from body, regaining proper salt levels and curbing the craving for alcohol.

  • Dates: These are one of the simplest home remedies for treating alcoholism. One must consume dates per day with water for around a month to gain benefit.
  • Lemon and Honey: A mixture of lemon and honey is considered to be an effective way of curing alcoholism if taken along with warm water. Honey contains fructose and sugars that get the person rid of any remnant traces of alcohol in the body. But one must avoid this remedy if suffering from diabetes.
  • Orange Juice: This is also a rich source of sugars that can help in flushing the alcohol out of the body.
  • Willow Bark: Bark of willow contains compounds that aid in relaxing the brain and get you relieved of the pain.
  • Banana: Alcoholism results in draining out of potassium from the body. It is very important to maintain correct potassium level as it plays major role in nerve impulse transmission. Banana plays roe in this respect by regaining the lost potassium levels.
  • Apple: Apples play an important role in reducing the craving caused for alcohol consumption. It is a good practice to feed the individual by apple juice at regular intervals of time. It also aids in removal of toxins due to alcohol consumption.
  • Bitter Gourd: Leaves of bitter gourd are harsh in taste and are known to have properties that aid in eliminating toxins out of the body. Small amounts of the same can be had with buttermilk which also heals the liver damage to some extent.
  • Ginger Root: Cut pieces from ginger root and boil the same in a cup of water. This decoction can be used in treating vomiting and will make one feel fresh and relaxed.
  • Coffee: Coffee has the property to reduce the constriction of blood vessels that leads to swelling in the later and headache. Thus cup of coffee can be had twice a day to get relief from headache.
  • Avoid Smoking: Smoking always leads to an urge for alcohol consumption. The individual trying to treat alcoholism must also make sure to completely get rid of smoking too.
  • Physical Exercise: Meditation, yogic kriyas, brisk walk and physical exercise, make the individual feel fresh. This should be inculcated in routine and will definitely relieve the person from alcoholism.
  • Plenty of Water: Alcohol is well known to cause dehydration. Therefore it is advised to consume as much water as possible to recoup the body from the water dehydrated.

According to the Doctor’s Book of Medicine, one can always try to avoid drinking too much of an alcohol to avoid the consequences. This can be done by either drinking a good quality alcohol slowly or making sure that not too much is boozed in. one may take the drinks when there stomach are full so that there is not mush scope for intake. Being a little cautious and by taking the above mentioned home remedies, one can completely come out of the hangover caused due to alcohol consumption.
