Home remedies for festering include the use of chamomile tea, green tea, fenugreek, honey, garlic, onions, salt water and several other products in different forms. These are some of the products that can reduce festering or help the wound heal faster. Festering is a condition where yellow/white pus which develops in a wound due to bacterial infection. There are many home remedies which can be helpful in drying these wounds by removing the pus. These remedies can also be used for acne problems, which are common among teenagers. If a wound is left open, it is much more likely to get infected, or festering. Therefore, one should always avoid keeping wounds open.

When a wound festers, it develops pus, a white or yellow, thick fluid, according to the National Skin Care Institute. Usually one can experience this on any part of the body. If the wound is not given proper attention, pus develops because of bacteria. Bacteria infects the wound, thus making it worse, and increasing the amount of time it takes to heal. The wound should be properly cleaned using dettol and should always be covered, so that bacteria cannot attack it.

Home Remedies for Festering Wounds

Fenugreek: Fenugreek is commonly used to treat arthritis. However, it can be very helpful as an herb for curing many other ailments too. Grind fenugreek seeds finely and make a paste, then apply this paste on the wound to protect it from bacterial infection and subsequent festering.

Chamomile Tea: This is an herb which has a number of anti-inflammatory properties. One can use the chamomile leaves, grind up the seeds, and apply the paste on the wound. Use of the concoction of chamomile seeds and boiling water is also a cure. Dip a cloth into this water and leave it on the wound for an hour. It will dry the wound, thereby eliminating the chances of developing pus.

Honey: It is not necessary to apply honey directly on the wound, just the intake of honey can help cure festering to a great extent. Honey is considered to be a natural treatment for many kinds of ailments due to its powerful antioxidant capabilities.

Green Tea: Green tea works as a natural way to combat festering wounds. Drink green tea twice a day and you can see the difference in the rate of your wound healing, and the protection from various infections.

Olive Oil: Olive oil can also do wonders. Just apply olive oil and massage after a hot shower or bath. You can also add olive oil to bath water as a whole body cleanser.

Salty Water: One can also apply salt water on the wound and it will help dry the pus. Do this 3-4 times in a day.

Onions: Onions are considered to be very ‘warm’ as they are heat producers. Chop the onions or make an onion paste and apply it on the wound. Leave it there for around 5-6 hours. It will squeeze the pus out of the wound, thus leaving it dry and helping it to heal much faster.

Garlic: Garlic is also a super natural herb. Make a garlic paste and apply it on the wound, then leave it for a few hours. One might feel irritation or itching for a few minutes, but it will help to kill the bacteria. Soon, you will notice that the pus has been dried up, which will help heal the wound at a faster rate.

Fluids: Drink a lot of water and fresh fruit juices. This will help cleanse the internal system and wash away the dirt inside the body. This also helps dry the festering and cure the wound.

Please avoid using essential oils, if you are suffering from a festering wound. Also, make sure peanuts are used in minimal quantities, as they can exacerbate the condition.
