Benefits of Business Health Insurance
Health insurance can be considered to be a major component of compensation packages for employees. It is also considered to be one of the major factors which contribute towards attracting and retaining top employees. It has been shown by surveys that employee and workers value health insurance only next to monetary compensation.
Businesses get tax benefits when they provide the employees of the firm with health insurance. You can reduce the payroll taxes by offering group health insurance. You, as a business owner, can also deduct 100% of the premium that you pay from the tax amount. As a business owner, you may be able to get health insurance for yourself and your family at cheaper rates if you did not have an individual plan earlier. This is possible because the insurance broker, with whom you are working to find a plan, is able to negotiate cheap contracts with insurance firms in its network.
If you are an employee and your employer is offering health insurance, then usually the plans being offered are much cheaper than what you would have to pay if you bought these plans individually. The employer would pay part of the premium or put money into the health account depending upon whichever plan you are following.
The two types of plan that the health insurance companies offer are managed care plans and consumer-directed coverage. Under managed healthcare plans, the various plans provided are the Health Maintenance Organization, Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and the Point of Service (POS). Under the consumer-directed coverage you can set up accounts and use the money that you put or your employers put to pay for your current and future medical expenses.
Under managed health care plans, the insurance companies usually have their own network of doctors and other physicians. It is mandatory in the HMO plan to choose a physician from the network, but in the other plans it is only beneficial if you choose a physician from the network.
If you choose consumer-directed coverage, then you can open up either a Health Savings Account or a Health Reimbursement Account or a Flexible Spending Arrangement or an Archer Medical Savings Account.
There are a number of insurance brokerage firms that you as a business owner can approach to buy a health insurance plan. One such association is the insurance brokers of America. It provides health insurance plan depending upon your needs and budget constraints.
