Hey Janet, grapefruit oil in it\'s normal concentrated form is meant for aromatherapy. It can be as simple as putting a drop or two on a folded kleenex by your computer, there are also diffusers.

There are ways to use it on skin and internally, but it must be dilluted first or it can be dangerous - all essential oils are very strong, usually too strong to eat. So do some research if you are going to do anything aside from smell it. It has a great citrus scent though, I like it.

You do not ingest the oil, you put a few drops of lotion in your hands then a few drops of oil in the lotion and spread it on evenly.

Oil myths

There are oils which can safely be ingested. They have to be theraputic-grade essential oils which is usually NOT the type used in aromatherapy. I personally took a drop of grapefruit oil in one cup of seltzer just yesterday. A person has to research reputable sources for instruction on how to properly use the oils and they have to source them from a company that only uses the highest quality methods of distilling the oils from their plant sources. It is inaccurate to state or otherwise imply that oils cannot be used internally. Also, please be aware that if an oil does require dilution, there are specific carrier oils or lotions that should be used. You would not want to dilute a pure oil with a chemical filled lotion. You can use grapeseed, almond, or olive oils, etc.

It is not a good idea to ingest it. You can rub a few drops on your skin. If you are pregnant you should consult someone who knows a lot about it like a holistic doctor. Usually they suggest not using it if you are pregnant or breast feeding because essential oils are so strong it could potentially be toxic to a baby you just never know.

I have used some essential oils without dilution in a few drops rubbed on my wrists or under my jaw where I sometimes get pain (lymphatic backup). I have never had a bad reaction. Why are we so advised not to use undiluted. Oh, oreganol oil stings but no others.
