<title>Article on magnesium ( fourth most abundant elemen</title>
			<link>http://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/minerals/health-benefits-of-potassium.html#josc4364</link>
<description>Magnesium is the fourth most abundant element in our body. Our bones accounts for 60 % but our blood for just 1 %. Very few of us knows the importance of magnesium in our body. You may not be aware that the deficiency of magnesium can cause heart attacks, kidney stones, etc. Magnesium is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in our body. It helps us in regulating blood sugar level, keeping the heart rhythm and immune system and keeping bones strong. Magnesium has the ability to relax our muscles. Our nerves also depend up on magnesium to avoid becoming overexcited. Magnesium reduces the risk of getting asthma, diabetes and few more diseases.A study released in April 2008 indicates that magnesium deficiency accelerates aging.
Green leafy vegetables such as spinach are in magnesium as they contain chlorophyll (a substance which gives green colour to the leaves) which are rich in magnesium. Some legumes (peas and beans) , nuts, seeds, fish and grains too contain magnesium. Tap water can also be a source of magnesium. Magnesium cannot be produced by our body and hence it should be taken from fruits and vegetables. Here is a table revealing the normal intake of magnesium age wise:

 Age Intake in milligrams
0 - 6 months 30
7 - 12 months 70
1 - 3 years 85
4 - 8 years 130
9 - 13 years 240
14 -18 years 410 for males / 360 for females
19 - 30 years 400 for males / 310 for females
30+ years 420 for males / 320 for females
Signs of excess magnesium can be similar to magnesium deficiency too. A study reveals that over two-thirds of all Americans do not consume the recommended daily intake of magnesium. Even more alarming data showing that 19% of Americans do not consume even one-half of the government\'s recommended daily intake of magnesium.</description>
