A WWOOF Organizers’ Meeting is being held on 30th and 31st October, 2006 in Sapporo, Japan where every WWOOF organization will send a representative to put forward their issues.
WWOOF is becoming a popular activity in all parts of the world, and a new WWOOF organization is formed every year or so. Though the role of these WWOOF organizations is almost similar in nature, they are completely independent in their operations.
However, now with the increasing globalization of the activity and WWOOFers enthusiastically including foreign locations for WWOOFing, it has become necessary for the WWOOF organizers to come together and discuss various issues to help them serve the WWOOFers and hosts in a better way.
The meeting is first of its kind and will involve among important issues, discussion on the formation of International WWOOF Association. The important points that will be discussed include:
- Devise a strategy to increase the coordination between different WWOOF organizers.
- Find ways to deal with WWOOFers that take up the activity solely for the purpose of earning money without any interest in organic farming and try to procure a work visa by using WWOOF.
- How to assist hosts in developing countries, where WWOOF has become popular recently and the land holdings of the hosts are also small.
