Organic White Wine
Organic White Wine or organic normal wine (any wine that is not Red is White wine, be it clear, golden or hay coloured or be it sparkling) is the most sold of any kind of organic wine because its counterpart, the organic red wine is costlier. Then very famous Champagne is one of them. The Organic Red Wine may be a healthier choice than white ones, but when it comes to personal taste, no arguments stand.
So, this is for those die-hard fans of white wine who want it even healthier.
Organic White Wine: The Organic White Wine is the white wine that has predominantly been made from organic grapes using organic techniques. That is, most of the grapes used in it are grown without the use of any chemical fertilizer, pesticide etc.; and while the traditional wine manufacturing involves deliberate or non-deliberate use of harmful metals like even lead and chemicals like Bentonite, Kiesolsol and various sulphites; the organic white wine manufacturing involves nil or negligible use of these chemicals. There is one more thing to rejoice. The Organic White Wine is mostly packed in organic packs. But, the term “Organic White Wine” should not be used to address or to denote all white wines with a term “Organic” printed anywhere on their labels. Because, there are handsome differences between a “hundred percent organic”, an “organic” and a wine that contains “organic” grapes. Although these differences have been discussed about in my previous articles, still here are some hints.
The Organic Issues: Let me put the differences straight. Just see below.
- The Hundred Percent Organic White Wines: This tag certifies that no chemical fertilizers or stabilizers or other chemical additives have been used in growing the grapes from which these white wines are derived or in their processing or preservation. Hundred percent of the grapes used in these wine has been grown organically. These wines are most short lived.
- The Organic White Wines: The minimum requirement for a white wine to have this tag is that at least ninety five percent of the grapes used in this wine must be organic and chemical stabilizers or sulphites may be used in these wines up to a prescribed limit only (less than that used in the third category). It has a longer shelf life than the former ones.
- The White Wine containing Organic Grapes: These wines are permitted to use only thirty percent non-organic grapes of the total quantity of grapes used in their manufacturing, i.e. at least seventy percent of the grapes used in them should be organic. They also contain permissible amounts of sulphites, generally higher than those used in the “Organic White Wines”. They are longest lived ones.
The Health Issues: Generally, the Organic White Wines have higher alcohol content than their organic red cousins, of about 10 to 14 percent, and so should be taken in lesser quantities than the red wines. But its organic benefits remain same as those of its red counterparts. They have more anti oxidants and lesser chemicals than the non-organic white wine.
The Business Issues: The Organic White Wine is certainly more sold and more demanded than the organic red wine. The first reason is that it is a better known and omnipresent face. The second reason is that it has higher alcohol content (those who want longer booze will need this one and most of the people obviously cannot settle for a less when wines are much costlier than other alcoholic drinks). The third reason is of course its availability. Organic White Wine is more easily available than Organic Red Wine. Then, the white wine has many varieties. And finally, it is cheaper than the red one. So, organic white wine certainly does more business than its red counterpart.
The Chief Producers: Once again, big players in wine production are big players in this arena too. France occupies the first five positions and also the seventh & eighth positions among the top ten organic white wine producing countries. It tops both in quantity and quality. The other big producers are Austria, California and Chile.
The Certifiers: Since the alcoholic beverages have always been a matter of concern for health departments, therefore these organic wines too undergo strict certification exercises to include the term “Organic” in their labels and be certified “Fit” for drinking. There are some very reputed certifying agencies like ECOCERT, BIOFRANC, Nature et Progres, Terre et Vie etc. who grade these wines as “Hundred Percent Organic”, “Organic” and “Made from Organic Grapes”. They keep a strict vigilance over the wineries and vineyards to see whether they are following the adequate measures or not.
The Reviews: The Organic White Wine is gaining popularity rapidly and it is highly welcomed by the people. Particularly those people, who drink wine strictly for health reasons, have been waiting for such a wine. They are happy to enjoy all the goodness of these wines without or negligible harmful chemicals. There are countries and cultures where wine is an integral part of their daily life and their every meal. For them, the Organic White Wine certainly is good news. Moreover, the total manufacturing of Organic White Wine is an environment friendly process and thus should be encouraged.
The Organic White Wine is there for you who want a healthy heart, a healthy metabolism and a better immunity. Buy a bottle today and drink to your health (in moderation of course). Bye!
