Information on Organic Baby Lotion
If you are looking for the most skin friendly baby lotion, then it is Organic Baby Lotion

There are many people who are of the belief that babies do not need any kind of lotion at all and lotions do more harm to their delicate and sensitive skin than any good! I would like to add here that these are those people who do not know about Organic Baby Lotion. They are neither wrong nor right. Actually, this belief has arisen from the fact that most of the lotions are based on harmful synthetic substances and chemicals. So, they are right as long as the regular petroleum gel or mineral oil based and artificially coloured and flavoured lotions are concerned. But they are wrong to some extent too! This is because that since your baby’s skin is very delicate and prone to drying up, cracking and microbial attacks; therefore they need a protection for their skin which could be provided by a good lotion; and, if this lotion is organic, then there cannot be a better thing. When there is so much a fuss about Organic Baby Lotion, should not we know more about it? What do you say? Right! You do! Here we go then.

• Organic Baby Lotion: Simply defining, an Organic Baby Lotion is a baby lotion that uses only the organic natural substances in it. It is made from organic raw ingredients, through an organic process and packed & preserved organically. No chemicals or synthetic substances should be used in it in any stage of its manufacturing.

• Ingredients: Its ingredients can be classified as under;

• Base: The substance that makes the main bulk or volume of the lotion. Predominantly, it is organic natural edible oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, sunflower oil, groundnut (peanut) oil, soy lecithin, organic shea butter and like. Some lotions also use bee wax mixed with these oils.

• Medicinal Additives:  These are those which attribute to the medicinal properties of the lotion. These can be organic essential oils, extracts of organic medicinal herbs etc. For example, organic turmeric, extract of Aloe Vera, sandal, calendula, jojoba, wheat germ oil, saffron etc. are some of the most common medicinal additives.

• Other Additives: These additives are mixed in the lotion to give it desired flavour and colour. In case of Organic Baby Lotion, these can be essence and colours derived from organically grown flowers, herbs and plants. Rose water and saffron are some of the well known such additives.

• Market: Baby lotions had always been in great demand and will always be. Rather, I should say that the demand will rise day-by-day, due to increasing global temperature, decreasing humidity and depleting ozone layer which calls for protection of skin against sun. And it is almost certain that Organic Baby Lotions will do better than the ordinary baby lotions, because every parent wants that the lotion which protects the baby’s skin from sun and infections should protect it from the harmful chemicals too.

• Availability: These days, Organic Baby Lotions are available in almost every reasonably modern market or shop. These are well available in India and the Indian Subcontinent too. So, you need not worry about that. Still, you can order some on the internet, if you want a particular brand or one with your desired ingredients.

• Price: I need not say here that these Organic Baby Lotions are costlier than the regular “non-organic” ones. Again, the prices may vary depending upon the place of manufacture, brand name, the ingredients used in it and the certificates of authenticity.

• Certifying Agencies: There are certain certifying agencies like Guaranteed Organic Certification Agency who do this noble task. This, and other certifying agencies need follow certain guidelines laid by some of the governing authorities like;

• Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS)

• USDA National Organic Program (NOP)

• European Organic Regulations (EU 2092/91)

• Export Certificates for Japan (JAS Equivalent)

• Indian National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP).

• Quebec Organic Reference Standard (CAAQ)

• Bio Suisse Standards

• IOFAM Basic Standards

• Your Responsibility: Since the question is of your baby, it becomes your duty to be very cautious while choosing the right Organic Baby Lotion for your baby. Please read carefully and thoroughly the ingredients listed on the pack and before you buy one, please consult your baby’s doctor regarding what ingredients will or will not suit your baby’s skin. Happy parenting!
