WWOOF Basics

Hereafter, if you want to start a WWOOF group, you don’t have to wait for the stars to shine. You can get ready support for forming WWOOF groups now. WWOOF organizations all over the world are in the process of forming the International WWOOF Association (IWA). The IWA aims at providing neutral, clear information and support to WWOOF enthusiasts including WWOOFers, WWOOF hosts and WWOOF organizations, throughout the world.

The formation of International WWOOF Association has gone through six years of rigorous brainstorming, conceptualizing and planning. The role and activities of the International WWOOF Association will be finalized this year (2006) at the International WWOOF Organisers' Meeting to be held in October in Japan.

With the formation of the International WWOOF Association, WWOOF hosts or WWOOFers who have been carrying out their activity on an informal or independent level can give a formal appearance to their activity. They can get ready support for forming a WWOOF group from the IWA. All they have to do is contact the IWA, follow its guidelines and of course maintain their enthusiasm.

Further, the IWA aims at coordinating the WWOOF activities throughout the world. Since WWOOF is a truly global phenomenon, facilitating cross-cultural knowledge sharing, it has become necessary to coordinate the activity on a global level.

The website of the International WWOOF Association http://www.wwoofinternational.org/home/ gives the mission of the organization. This has been given below:
