WWOOF Korea was formed a decade back, in 1996. Lee, Chan Yul, an ardent traveler, when he visited Australia came to know about the great concept of WWOOF, also known as Willing Workers on Organic Farms or World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms. He thought of creating an organization in Korea similar to WWOOF Australia and founded WWOOF Korea in September 1996.
If you want to experience the traditional Korean culture, you should live in the countryside and what better can you find that WWOOF in Korea? You can also learn about the history and culture of Korea through WWOOF Korea’s various programs. Of course you have to find out beforehand the time of these programs.
The benefits of WWOOFing can be achieved only if a WWOOFers stays for a substantial amount of time on an organic farm. Hence WWOOF Korea has set the minimum duration of stay on any host farm to two days, but you are advised to stay longer.
The role of WWOOF Korea is not limited to WWOOFing activities in Korea. Unlike many other WWOOF organizations, WWOOF Korea also provides to Korean WWOOFers who wish to WWOOF in other countries. They help Korean WWOOFers get membership to other WWOOF organizations and procure air tickets for their travel.
WWOOF Korea, unlike other WWOOF organizations, also contacts the hosts on your behalf for the first three times, if you become a member. You have to contact a host yourself thereafter.
You can get the entire list of host farms in Korea thought the WWOOF book of WWOOF Korea. This book was first printed in 2000 and is update every year. The book is available in Korean, English as well as Japanese. Please note that there are entries of farms and organizations other than organic farms in this book. Don’t forget to keep the WWOOF book safely as you will asked to show the book and your passport when you reach a host farm.
You can procure the WWOOF Korea book by becoming a member of WWOOF Korea which costs $40 or KRW 50,000 or 4,500 Yen. This amount includes postage charges. Your membership will be valid for a period of one year from the date of registration. The minimum age to become a member of WWOOF Korea is 18 years.
WWOOF Korea has also helped the world educate about WWOOF. It has brought the following three books:

• "Guidelines of the World Cultural Experience" in 2001
