When you sauté brussels sprouts, it can help to bring out both the sweetness of these vegetables, as well as their earthy quality.

Step 1 – Add 2 pounds of brussels sprouts (halved) to a large saucepan with 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil.

Step 2 – Season with salt and pepper as the vegetable cooks.

Step 3 – Heat for 10 minutes or until the brussels sprouts are caramelized.

Step 5 – Season with lemon juice and serve warm.

Similar to the recipe above, the steps to roast brussels sprouts are quite simple.

Step 3 – Shake bag well, then pour onto a baking sheet with foil.

Step 4 – Roast the brussels sprouts for 30-40 minutes, shaking the pan at the 15-minute mark to ensure even cooking.

One of the healthiest ways to eat brussels sprouts is to steam them, which also helps to retain more of the nutritional value. Although do not steam them for a long time, or the vegetables will become soggy and mushy.

Step 1 – Bring 1/2 inch of salted water to a boil in a saucepan.

Step 2 – Add 2 pounds of brussels sprouts (halved) to the water and cover the pan.

Step 3 – Allow the brussels sprouts to steam for 5-8 minutes, depending on how soft you want them.

Step 4 – Top with lemon juice once the water has evaporated.

The final popular way of cooking brussels sprouts is to braise them, and also add a few more ingredients for extra flavor.

Step 1 – Sauté 1/2 pound of bacon (chopped) and then add some onions and garlic.

Step 2 – Add 2 pounds of brussels sprouts (not halved) to the mixture. Cook for 3-4 minutes.

Step 3 – Add 2 cups of chicken broth and 1 tablespoon of pepper, then cover the saucepan.

Step 4 – Allow the mixture to cook until the brussels sprouts are tender.
