Can balsamic vinegar upset your stomach?

Ideally, you are not supposed to have too much of it. I know a friend who likes the taste of balsamic vinegar and he used to drink it with spoon until he found that it’s the reason why his stomach is hurting. Utter foolishness on this part I think

You know you should first look how fresh it is. There are times when there is no mold in the bottle, which can be misleading because then, people use the vinegar in the food and go nuts about finding why the stomach hurts. It is always best to taste balsamic vinegar or for that matter all the vinegars if you are using them after a long time. If the taste is weirdly harsh, just throw away the bottle.
