Steam distillation, in general, is used for more volatile essential oil extractions. For hash oil, we generally don’t use steam distillation since it’s dissolvable in many non-polar solvents like isopropyl alcohol, butane, and ethanol. These solvents are readily available in common drugstores and hardware stores.
