Dates demand hotness, meaning they need arid and hot temperatures to grow. To grow a date plant:
Eat dates > Remove the seeds > Wash them clean > Soak the seeds in water for a day or two > Prepare the soil mix with sand, perlite, vermiculite, and peat moss > Take a pot and fill it with the prepared soil mix > Sow the rough side of the date seeds down about 1” into the soil > Lightly water the soil but make sure not to overwater it.

This is very tricky I can tell you that. But proper heat and care which are its most important needs can give you some tasty dates.
