For rosehip chutney, soak ½ pint rosehip, ½ pound raisins, and 1½ pound apples overnight in 1-pint vinegar. Now place the rosehips and other ingredients (2 tsp. ginger, 3/4 tsp. cayenne pepper, 1 tsp. cloves, 1 garlic, ½ pound brown sugar, 1/8 cup lemon juice, 1/8 cup orange juice, and ½ tsp. orange zest) in a saucepan. Then, cook the mixture over high heat and then reduce the heat to stir until the mixture becomes thick. Leave it to cool and store it in a cool, dry clean jar.
