Preparing rose hips for any use is simple; but you will have to do it as soon as they are harvested as keeping them unattended can lead to a loss of nutrients. Once you collect the rose hips from the plant you can wash and use them but be careful of the seeds. The seeds have a hairy surface, which can cause irritation if you eat them. Unless you are drying them for teas.
