The South-Asian spice, turmeric, has many medicinal properties. It has been used to treat many diseases since ancient times. Best of all is that it aids in weight loss. Turmeric improves your body’s metabolic rate, improves the immune system and removes toxins from your body, which in turn help you lose weight naturally.

Like all things, turmeric alone will not drastically aid in weight loss. Combined with an active lifestyle and a healthy diet it can provide great results. Turmeric aids in systemically reducing inflammation in the body, this is beneficial for individuals with inflammatory bowel disease, which can result in a lot of abdominal distention. Distention, bloating and backed up bowels can add a lot of weight on to an individual and by eliminating this issue a lot of excess weight can be lost. Turmeric also positively affects the thyroid, many individuals today suffer from hypothyroidism which can make it very difficult to lose weight. An anti-inflammatory diet (Paleo is good) along with daily consumption of turmeric can make a positive difference.
