Cabbage is an excellent source of various vitamins and minerals like vitamin B6, manganese, fiber and folate, thiamin and vitamin B5. It also has a right quantity of iron, phosphorous, calcium and potassium. It has minimal fat and makes a good base for all kinds of salads. Since it’s a good source of fiber, it helps in maintaining a healthy digestive system.

The process of cooking something takes away vitamins/minerals or other healthy components that exist in it. Cabbage is no exception. Cooking raw cabbage destroys some of the Isothiocyanates in it, which is a compound found in cruciferous vegetables that is also very cancer protective.
