Donating blood when traveling is ill-advised as exposure to certain diseases, and risk of infections becomes high in some countries. These may get transmitted during a blood transfusion. There usually is a waiting period associated with each infection. The duration is 12 months in case of malaria. It is always safe to get in touch with your general practitioner (GP) before going ahead.
