The allergy from artichoke is manifested by symptoms such as hives, skin rash, severe itching, trouble breathing, and difficulty swallowing, and swelling of throat and mouth. A severe allergic reaction can even lead to anaphylaxis and shock. Moreover, artichokes cause hand dermatitis and allergic rhinitis. Artichokes have also been reported to cause contact urticarial after exposure to them.

I am allergic to the Asteraceae family. So I cannot eat ragweed, marigolds, etc. Is artichoke safe for me?
