Burning pain in the sigmoid colon could be due to fissures which are caused due to prolonged constipation or irregular bowel moments. While passing stool, a burning pain may be experienced which is sometimes accompanied by blood. This happens when the sphincter muscle is exposed to air after it has been torn out due to the passage of hard stool.
