The taste of wild rice can be related to the taste of over baked but not burnt bread, thus being crunchy, toasty, nutty, and earth like in taste. It has a chewy texture and is pretty much like brown rice. It is generally added to soups, bread, salads and other dishes to provide a tinge of raw taste.
