Arrowroot is used in cooking for nutritional purposes and as a thickener to make sauces, baked goods, and pudding. Moreover, arrowroot is used to treat intestinal problems such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) as it reduces stomach pain and diarrhea. Arrowroot is also used as a medicinal herb in West Indies to poultice the wounds. Further, arrowroot is used to soothe various skin problems such as dermatitis, sunburn, wasp stings, and gangrene.
