Arrowroot powder is obtained from the tubers of Marantaceae family, whereas corn starch is extracted from the endosperm of the corn kernel. Arrowroot powder comes from non-genetic modified organism (non-GMO) plants while cornstarch is mostly derived from the GMO plants. Unlike arrowroot powder that is extracted using gentler methods, cornstarch powder undergoes a rigorous extraction method involving heat and chemicals.
