Broccoli is a plant with a tree-like green colored flower head and cabbage is an edible plant with a head of green leaves. Although both belong to the mustard family, broccoli has more vitamin E and water content than cabbage.

Both cabbage and broccoli belong to the cruciferous and brassica family of plants. Broccoli is an inflorescent cabbage. It is rich in antioxidants, Vitamin E and C as well as folic acid and other B Vitamins, phosphorus and potassium.
Smooth Leaf and curled leaf cabbage include savoy, green, white and red cabbage as well as Brussel sprouts. The most nutritional benefits are found in red cabbage and brussel sprouts. Red cabbage is rich in folic acid, potassium, B6 and it contains 2x as much iron and at least 10x as much ascorbic acid or vitamin c than green or white cabbage.

Oh! I didn’t know that broccoli is an inflorescent cabbage. Do they taste the same? Can they be substituted for each other in recipes?
