Using frankincense oil for cancer is a traditional remedy that has been popularized due to the many active ingredients in this oil, but it is important to understand the full effects of this oil.

Frankincense Oil

Frankincense oil is an essential oil derived from the aromatic resin obtained from trees in the Boswellia genus. Since ancient times, frankincense has been praised for its many medicinal effects and has been used for perfumery, aromatherapy, topical and internal use. This oil is extracted from the resin using steam distillation and is high in certain antioxidants and active ingredients, such as sesquiterpenes, monoterpenes, and ketones, as well as various other antioxidants.

Recently, frankincense has received newfound attention for its potential effects on cancerous growth and tumors. While this oil has traditionally been used for skin conditions and its psychological effects, its abilities to counter free radicals and prevent cellular mutation has made it a common subject for study. The active ingredient in this oil is boswellic acid and has proven anti-inflammatory properties that can lower the risk of oxidative stress and chronic disease, including cancer. This oil is primarily used in topical and aromatherapeutic applications, although some still claim that ingestion can have effects on certain other cancers.
