How to soften Brown Sugar

A quick remedy to soften brown sugar, which has become hard, is to microwave it.

  • Put the hardened sugar block in a microwave-safe bowl.
    Brown sugar cubes in a basket.
  • Cover it with a damp paper towel.
  • Warm it for 30 seconds to 1 minute, and keep checking to make sure it does not melt.
  • Your soft brown sugar is ready to use!

Notes

Use this softened brown sugar immediately since it will tend to harden again.
