Learning how to store brown sugar means that you can always keep a bit of this sweet ingredient around the house!

How to Store Brown Sugar?

After learning how to make your brown sugar, it is important to store it somewhere so that it lasts! There are a number of ways to store brown sugar, and ways to ensure that it doesn’t completely dry out and harden.

  • Airtight container: First of all, you want to store your brown sugar in an airtight sealable plastic container or a glass jar of some kind. You can store brown sugar in the pantry, where it should stay good for years.
  • Terracotta brown sugar savers: If you are worried about your brown sugar drying out, you can buy terracotta brown sugar disks, which can be soaked in water, dried, and then placed in the brown sugar container. [1]

  • Sugar savers from your pantry: Some other options include adding a slice of bread, marshmallows, slices of apple, or even a wet paper towel to the brown sugar.

You should not refrigerate the brown sugar. All of these options will help to keep the brown sugar moist and usable.
