How to Store Parsley

Knowing how to store parsley effectively means that you won’t waste as much of this delicious herb when you buy your next bunch at the grocery store.

How to Store Parsley?

After you buy a bunch of parsley, you need to know how to store it, unless you plan to use the entire bunch in one recipe. The best way to store parsley is in the refrigerator, which is what many people already do, but it’s a bit more complicated than that.

  • First of all, you want to snip off the bottom of all the stems in the bunch that you want to store.
  • Next, half-fill a glass jar with water and then place the parsley bunch into the water. This will keep them hydrated and prevent wilting.
  • You can store this glass jar in the refrigerator or at room temperature, and the results will be about the same. However, if you store them in the refrigerator, you must cover the parsley with a plastic bag, which will also help keep them crisp, fresh, and flavorful.

If you keep them at room temperature or in the refrigerator, the longest your parsley is likely to last is 2 weeks, but without this storage method, you will be lucky to have fresh parsley for more than 5-6 days. Parsley is not an herb that is commonly frozen, but if you do choose to freeze it, you should dice the herbs up very finely and add them to an ice cube tray with olive oil. [1]
