Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp of dried yerba buena tea
  • 2-3 cups of filtered water
  • 1 tsp honey or sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • To make yerba buena tea, allow fresh leaves of the plant to dry for at least 2 weeks.
  • Crush the dried leaves and add 2 tablespoons to a teacup. Meanwhile, boil 2-3 cups of water and then add to the teacup.
  • Allow the mixture to steep for 30 minutes. Once done, strain the leaves out of the mixture using a strainer.
  • Add any sweetener, if you want. Consume this 3-4 times per day for best results. As mentioned above, it aids in weight loss and maintaining a healthy and youthful skin, among other things.

Notes

You can have the tea as a hot as well as cold beverage. To have it as a cold beverage, simply refrigerate it for a few hours after it is made. Usually, it is dried in a paper bag, or bundle and hung. Once it is dried, the leaves are separated from the stems. It is highly recommended to use the leaves within a year, but it can be good for up to 2 years. You can add catnip, lemon mint, chamomile, hummingbird sage, or lemon balm to the tea to further enhance the taste. However, it is advisable to first consult a doctor before mixing the herbs as they could have side effects or cause an allergic reaction.
