Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup black rice
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds optional
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon

Instructions

  • Melt butter in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add black rice, diced onion, and almonds. Cook and stir until lightly roasted, for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Add water and chicken cube, bring it to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low flame, cover, and simmer until rice is fluffy and liquid is completely absorbed. Allow 25 to 30 minutes.

Notes

Always remember, 1 cup of black rice yields approximately 3 cups of cooked black rice.
