When you let loose an enormous belch, it is the result of the build-up of gas in your stomach after talking, eating or drinking. Asafetida is one of the most effective remedies for excess belching, as the chemical nature of asafetida makes it difficult for acidity to form and gas to build up, and it essentially dispels it from the stomach. Asafetida is also a very good stomach-soother, which may be useful if you’re suffering from excess gas. Highly spicy foods can often cause cramping, bloating and inflammation, and asafetida is well known to relieve tension and irritation in the gut.
