Jaggery is a popular Ayurvedic remedy for a number of different medical conditions, and acts as an alternative to sugar. However, it is also hugely beneficial for human health, and can help to settle gastrointestinal distress and high levels of acidity. If the pH balance in your gut is not correct, it can result in many complications, including heartburn and potential inflammation in the esophagus. Jaggery can help coat the stomach and reduce inflammation, while improving digestive efficiency. A small amount, no more than ten grams or so, is required with your meals to reduce acidity.
