Nuts

Nuts are rather unassuming – easy to snack on, easy to find – but they are some of the most concentrated forms of minerals, nutrients and healthy fats that we have available to us. Many of the compounds found in nuts, such as omega-3 fatty acids, can also have an effect on inflammation, which the colon needs in the case of diverticulitis. Some of the best nuts to eat if you want to strengthen your colon and gastrointestinal system include pistachios and walnuts. That being said, nuts are high in fiber, which can exacerbate diverticulitis, so only a small amount of nuts are necessary at a time.
