Alzheimer’s Disease affects the mind, and as such, some people recommend tricking the mind into fighting back against the problem. Using placebos may seem like a simple bit of trickery, but the mind can be convinced of things, and actively change in response to those beliefs. If you fill a pill bottle with mints and label them memory pills, your brain will be triggered to think of the pill each time something is forgotten, you can take a pill, and the chances are good that your focus and attention will be heightened for a period of time following the event. The mind is brilliant, but it’s not fool-proof!
