Myopia is a condition that prevents people from clearly seeing objects that are far away. In Eastern medicine traditions, such as Ayurvedic treatments, triphala is recommended for many different eye disorders, including nearsightedness. Triphala is actually a combination of three fruits – amla, bibhitaki and haritaki – all of which have antioxidant and detoxifying effects on the body. While research on the potency of triphala is still ongoing, the anecdotal evidence is overwhelming, and for an Ayurvedic approach to treating myopia, few things are more highly recommended.
