One of the best ways to counter a bacterial infection in the gut is to ensure that there are enough beneficial bacteria inside the stomach. When you vomit as a result of gastroenteritis, however, you often flush out or eliminate that good bacteria that keeps your stomach healthy. To replace that bacteria, you need to eat yogurt, as it is rich in probiotics, which can rebalance the bacterial microflora in your gut and fend off any further infections, either rotovirus or norovirus, that may be causing gastroenteritis in the first place. Fortunately, yogurt is widely available and delicious, especially with fresh fruit!
