Janet  - Do Walnuts Lose Their Nutritional Value Over Time?   |2009-10-23 22:59:02
I usually keep my walnuts and almonds in the freezer to preserve them. It takes me such a long time to eat
them because I usually eat just about 15 grams a day because of their high calorie count. Does storing them
in the freezer lessen their nutritional value--such as lowering the amount of Omega 3s?
Wayland Sothcott  - Essential Oils   |2009-10-18 19:15:41
I am looking at nuts as a natural source of essential oils, you know stuff like Omega 3 and maany others.
Although our bodies easily turn carbs into fat, they can't make many of the fats that they need. That's why
rather than cut out fats and oils we must seek out the ones missing from our diets. Raw nuts are less likely
to have undergone intensive farming and heavy processing, therefore more likely to contain rair vitamins and
mineraals and less likely to contain man made chemicals.

Getting the right nutrition resolves our cravings
for food so we can eat what we want and our tastes change naturally to what is healthy for us.

How do I prepare walnuts before eating them? I bought a packet and started eating but they did not test nice.
Yossi  - Roasting Almonds   |2009-07-07 11:27:18
If the Color and Taste of the Almond is changed due to it being subjected to a change in temperature, you can
bet your bottom dollar that its chemical composition has been changed. It has lost a large ammount of its
Nutritional value. The fat content remains relatively the same, but the Nutrient effect has changed due to
the temperature change.
Put simply, if you're at the market and you have a choice between roasted or raw
Almonds, choose the raw, your body will benifit more.
The only difference I have noticed between raw Almonds
and Roasted, is that the roasted offers more flavor, and that is because roasting it released large ammounts
of oil that it holds.

Silvia  - Soaking Walnuts   |2009-02-11 00:11:09
If one soaks walnuts over night, the enzymes in them are brought back to life.
Silvia  - The Truth Behind Cooking   |2009-02-11 00:09:41
By cooking any type of food above 115 degrees F. one not only kills the destroys the nutrition and enzymes,
but chemically changes foods from the substances needed for health into free-radicals and poisons that destroy
our health.
ted  - calories in walnuts   |2009-01-10 08:30:32
Nuts do not help you lose weight but they do contain the good fats that is good for our health than the fat
we'll obtain from animal. Good nuts like walnut and almond are exceptionally good for their high quality fats.
Eat them with moderation because of their high calorie content, for example, one full walnut contains about 27
calories. 2 or 3 walnuts could be good for a day because you're not only going to live on walnuts. You've got
to eat your daily meals and what you eat contains tons of calories and only about 2000 calories per day are
recommended to be of optimum health.

they really helps to reduce exeisting weight or it will stop further fat increase??
your answer will be help
full to live healthy for all.
dave   |2008-12-09 00:56:05
No but roasting them turns them from a miracle food into a cancer causing food. Once you heat the almond up,
you turn the fat rancid and it causes free radicals. Almonds are best left alone, washed to remove dirt and
eaten raw.
ark  - walnuts in water   |2008-09-11 22:43:05

hi wanted to know is it good to soak almond overnight in water and eat in the morning??? also what is the
calorie contentin 20seeds of almond???
Sunil Shegaonkar  - roasting almonds   |2008-08-11 19:24:50
Almonds like many other dry fruits contain moisture and that's why it's cheesy when you eat raw.
During
roasting the moisture is lost and taste nice.
Does it lose any nutritional content??
No. not if you roast
slowly at low temperature for long period of time. This is not easy to achieve.
It also get roasted in minutes
at relatively high temperature, while you at all time.
Once it changes in color or taste, that's a degradation
from nutritional content.
Melba Doonan   |2008-09-07 13:55:54
Is there any truth to the story that roasting almonds causes them to lose thier nutritional value?
