10 Surprising Benefits of Cannabis Essential Oil

Some of the most important health benefits of cannabis essential oil include its ability to protect your skin, reduce stress and anxiety, improve the quality of sleep, boost appetite and optimize digestion, reduce pain, prevent certain cancers and strengthen the heart health.

Cannabis Essential Oil

Cannabis essential oil is one of the most unusual oils in the essential oil range, simply because of the plant from which it is derived. Although cannabis and hemp have been used for thousands of years as a naturally growing herb, its reputation as a drug in many parts of the world have complicated the relationship between users of cannabis oil and hemp, and authorities in certain parts of the world. However, cannabis essential oil is a wildly beneficial essential oil and is widely considered as one of the most effective oils for the alleviation of certain illnesses and condition, in fact. Cannabis essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the flowers and upper leaves of cannabis plants, which are in the Cannabis genus.

cannabisessentialoilCannabis essential oil is a green liquid that is considered highly volatile, and its component parts are very powerful, including monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, and other highly active organic compounds. The essential oil is primarily made and distributed from France and various other European countries, but its exportation is somewhat limited by, as mentioned above, the legal ramifications of what cannabis essential oil is derived from.

Apart from its extensive medical applications, it is also found in perfumes, soaps, and candles, as well as some use in food. Considering that this oil is so powerful, very small amounts are sufficient for it to be effective.

Health Benefits of Cannabis Essential Oil

Cannabis is a very unused and less known herb, but the benefits of its oil can do wonder for your body. Explore them below and enhance your health!

Anxiety and Stress: One of the most popular and well-known uses of cannabis essential oil is to get relief from stress and anxiety. The natural compounds found in cannabis essential oil, including the famed THC, which is what gives cannabis the distinction of a drug in many countries, are very good for releasing pleasure hormones and relaxing the mind, reducing stress and inducing a sense of calm and relaxation.

Sleep Issues: For people who suffer from insomnia, constant anxiety during the night hours, or simply struggle to get a sound, restful night of undisturbed sleep, cannabis essential oil works like a charm. By relaxing the body and mind, and inducing a lower energy level, it will be easier to get your heart rate down and clear your head before a long night of peaceful slumber.

Appetite Booster: It is well known that people who consume cannabis in other forms notice increased appetite, famously called “the munchies”. However, cannabis essential oil can help regulate your appetite and induce hunger, while also stimulating your digestive system to operate at a more regular level. This can help people who want to gain weight quickly, particularly after an extended illness or injury recovery.

Pain Reliever: Cannabis essential oil works as a great pain reliever, and is regularly suggested for people with inflammation, chronic pain, and even emergency pain relief. There is a very good reason why people who suffer from cancer often turn to cannabis-related options, including cannabis essential oil, when the pain of chemotherapy or the disease itself becomes unbearable.

Cancer Prevention: Although there is still some controversy over this, and a great deal of research still ongoing, early reports have shown that the active ingredients in cannabis essential oil can have preventative effects on cancer, and can also cause reduction in tumor size, thereby making it easier to effectively beat cancer for those patients already suffering from this tragic disease.

Heart Health: The volatility in cannabis essential oil can also help to improve heart health by balancing out the negative oils in your system. It can stimulate antioxidant processes as well, scraping off excess cholesterol and maximizing the health of your cardiovascular system.

Skin Protection: The powerful components of cannabis essential oil are also used to protect the skin, and can be consumed both internally and applied externally to achieve this important side effect. It can stimulate the shedding of dead skin and faster re-growth of healthy, glowing skin. It is also known to prevent wrinkles and signs of aging, while also protecting against eczema and psoriasis.

Glaucoma: In terms of eye health, cannabis and cannabis essential oil has been linked to a reduction in glaucoma and a prevention of macular degeneration. Eye health is one of the major reasons why people turn to cannabis essential oil as they age.

Headaches and Migraines: Topically applying some cannabis essential oil at the temples or the spot of intensity for a migraine or a headache can be an effective way to get relief. Many people turn to prescriptions for cannabis and cannabis oil due to its potent defense against crippling headaches and pain.

Word of Caution: Although this list clearly shows that cannabis essential oil can be an effective remedy for many common health conditions, it is still a potent chemical substance extracted from a plant with psychotropic substances. Therefore, you should always be very careful of your use of such an essential oil, including the amount you use and the conditions under which you use it. Speak to a professional about mixing essential oils and present medications before adding any new elements to your health regimen. Also, use of cannabis is restricted/banned in many countries, so consult local health specialist before use.

I'm writing a research paper on the use - including pros and cons- of essential oils. I have to cite my sources, but sadly, none of the articles I've found on this website have an author provided. I would like to know who wrote this article so I may cite the information properly and include it in my research.

This was a good read! In researching a comprehensive article on the pros and cons of CBD oil for my own site, Healevate, I came across some pretty valuable information, for anyone interested. Reply to this comment if you'd like, and I'll provide a link. Knowing how to ingest makes all the difference between getting the benefits and getting absolutely nothing.

My grown son has suffered from severe chronic pain for over 20 years. We have gone from doctor to doctor for help but all they say they can do for him is to give him Hyrocodone, which is not working for him now days. He has never been able to live alone, have a job or even have friends. Has anyone had any luck with cannabis oil for chronic pain? I live in Indiana so I know it isnt legal ... but I am ready to try anything to help him. As a parent it is extremely difficult to hear you child crying in pain almost every night. Thanks for any help you can send my way.

12

you should try- Kratom. The FDA is trying to put this herb on the Schedule 1 drug list right now but has not done so yet- It is a powerful pain reliever that is a plant..

13

The FDA will put anything they can't control & market for Big Pharm on all list...as long as folks in free nations refuse to say no to the corrupt Govt. Just as with cancer alternatives.

14

Where can I purchase?

15

Hey Maria, check your nearest market else check online. Please note that cannabis products may not be legal in some parts of the world so check prior.

My father has cancer. If this oil really works I wanna buy is but every time I search for cannabis oil I get hemp oil products. I now know these two are closely related but is hemp oil equally effective on cancer and if not can any one suggest wher I can buy this?

17

Fatema, you can buy cannabis oil on eBay. Different potencies, & different sized bottles. All reasonably priced. (You have to search for Cannabis oil). You can also buy hemp oil.

18

No, not the same. Curing cancer requires a very high THC content, which hemp is incapable of producing. Cannabis oil is easy enough to make, if you can get the plant material. I am fortunate to live in California, just harvested my first plant 3 weeks ago.

Cannabis essential oil does not contain THC or CBD. The statements here seem to be based on the essential oil, CBD oil, AND THC oil combined.

20

What makes you say that? Cannabis oil is the extracted rosins from the flower buds of the cannabis plant. Should have THCA, CBDA, CBGA, and plenty more, including terpenes. If it is particularly old or has been heated to the point of decarboxylation, then it would have THC, CBD, etc & so on.

My wife suffers from IBS does anyone know if cannabis can help.

22

IBS can be controlled by diet since it is considered an autoimmune disease. Do some research on diet changes. It works.

23

Yes it does remarkably. Also she should be taking a good probiotic. A peppermint or ginger tea would also help with flare ups. Good luck.

24

Yes it does. Sorry can't say more, my last reply was deleted

25

Yes it does. Originally used oil to treat another ailment but I noticed the symptoms associated with my IBS either settled or went away altogether. Now I can enjoy occasional alcohol and spicy foods I missed so much for years. There may be several trips to the loo first thing, but for me that's it, the rest of day is symptom free. I recommend 1 gram a month taken in small half grain of rice size portions. Just before bed 😉

I currently take cipralex and trepiline (low dosage), but suffer from terrible cluster headaches. My digestive system is packing up, suppose from all the pain killers. Can I use cannabis oil whilst using the meds? Will reduce and leave it gradually if the oil does the trick? Please advise

27

Hi Sonja,

Sorry to hear about your headaches. Before using any home remedy, please consult your health specialist.
