Home remedies for bad breath include usage of clove, hazelnut, lemon, parsley, mint, basil, cardamom, fennel seeds, cinnamon, apple, carrot, pears, mint, wintergreen, apple cider vinegar, tea of parsley and myrrh, baking soda etc. Bad breath is a clinical condition in which the individual complaints of having foul smelling breath.

Home remedies for bad breath

Clove: Clove has strong antiseptic properties. 3-4 cloves are ground and added to a cup of water and allowed to boil till complete extraction. This is strained with a fine mesh and used for the purposes of gargle routinely.
Hazelnut: When chewed slowly, hazelnuts absorb bad breath.
Lemon: Spoonful of lemon with a pinch of salt can remove garlic and onion breath after a meal. This is an effective and easy to employ remedy for bad breath. This makes you feel fresh after a heavy and spicy meal.
Parsley, Mint, Basil: Parsley, mint and basil leaves can be chewed as they reduce the intestinal gas production and induce fresh breath for quite some time.
Cardamom: Cardamom is taken after meals and when chewed. These produce oil and taste of mouth is improved. This is the simplest home remedy for bad breath.
Fennel seeds: The seeds can be taken directly or made into powder and used for brushing for a fresh breath. The extract can also be applied on tongue and gums.
Cinnamon: Cinnamon sticks adsorb the sulphurous odour of garlic and onion and can be kept in mouth for sometime till it is fully extracted.
Apple, Carrot and Pears: Fruits like apple, carrot and pears are rich in fibre. Such fruits produce saliva on chewing and aid in scrubbing of teeth.
Mint and Wintergreen: Both of these neutralizes bad breath and give freshness within mouth. This is why they are present in most of the toothpastes and mouthwashes.
Apple cider vinegar: A spoonful of apple cider vinegar can be taken with a glass of water before meals resulting in improved digestion.
Tea of Parsley and Myrrh: Tea made by boiling leaves of parsley, powdered myrrh (1 teaspoon), and whole cloves (2-4) can be kept ready and be stored for few days. This is used as a mouthwash regularly (2-3 times a day).
Baking Soda: Teeth can be brushed with pinch of baking soda. This reduces acidity in mouth.
Along with these remedial procedures, proper oral hygiene must be practiced, by timely cleaning, flushing, and flossing of mouth parts. Regular dental check ups include filling of cavities, and getting the teeth cleaned. This will give you a confident persona with cheerful smile.
