Organic Coconut Oil Standards Print E-mail

The coconut oil industry is seriously lagging behind in this matter. There are no detailed definitions and standards for the different types of coconut oils.

CoconutsThe Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC), however, have developed some standards for virgin coconut oil. But these standards are not followed in the US, which is one of the largest markets for organic coconut oil. We definitely need better standards for organic coconut oil.

The Philippines government has taken a step towards this. Philippines is one of the largest exporter of virgin coconut oil. Hence, the Philippines Coconut Authority is planning to provide standards and guidelines for virgin coconut oil to the manufacturers to safeguard the interest of these manufacturers and coconut farmers as better quality standards will further boost the exports.

Kiran Patil  - Difference between organic and regular gardening   |2008-05-02 01:09:38
Hi Dizz,

While gardening if you do not use any chemicals, it will be referred as organic gardening. So you
do not use any chemical fertilizers, or chemical pesticides, etc.

With regular gardening, I hope, you mean
non-organic gardening. In this you use chemicals (natural or synthetic).

Do let me know if this solves your
query.

Regards,
Kiran
