Several home remedies for bruises are widely known throughout the world. Some of these are mentioned below.

Margarine

Margarine can be applied over the bruise. It will soon cause the swelling to subside.

Witch Hazel

Witch hazel has a number of properties, one of which is the wonderful ability to heal cuts and wounds and reduce the swelling in the area. These can be applied over the bruise and can cure the bruise within a few days.

Onion

If the skin is not cut at the wound, then raw onion can be sliced and kept it. It will give relief to the bruised area.

Ice or Cold Water

Cold water can be poured on the bruised region. This results in constriction of the blood vessels at the wound site and has been found to be effective in eliminating bruises from forming in the area.

Lemon

Cut a piece of lemon and keep it over the bruise. This is one of the easiest and earliest home remedies that can be administered to an individual. Lemon is a good source of vitamin C, which is required at the time of wound healing for thickening of the blood vessels and treating internal hemorrhaging.

Turmeric

Turmeric is the best known healer of wounds and injuries. Mix turmeric powder in a cup of warm milk and drink the mixture every morning. It is good to drink it on an empty stomach and it can help heal the affected area within a few days.

Herbal Tea

Prepare an herbal tea from hops, comfrey, or white oak bark. This can then be applied to the bruised area.Olive Oil and Mullein Flowers

Steep some mullein flowers in olive oil and apply it to the affected area. This will result in early or rapid recovery of wounds.

Black Coffee

Grind a small amount of black coffee and apply it over the cut. Cover the area with a bandage. This will heal the wound in few days.

Salvia

Salvia leaves can be spread on the affected region and then wrapped in a bandage.

Sugar or Honey

Since cuts pave the way for microorganisms to develop, it is important to keep the cut aseptic. Sugar can be sprinkled or some honey can be poured over the bruise or cut so that the germs cannot grow, due to concentrated solutes present at the site. This area can then be covered with a bandage.

Alfalfa

Alfalfa is a rich source of Vitamin K, which is an essential factor for blood clotting. It can be administered when a bruise or wound has occurred for quick healing as a way to prevent excessive bruising.

Pepper, Vaseline, and Cayenne

A mixture of cayenne and pepper in a large volume of melted Vaseline has been shown to have healing effects on bruises if applied directly.

Arnica, Chamomile, and Yarrow

These three herbs can be mixed together to form an herbal infusion. This works well against bruises because of the mixture’s anti-inflammatory properties.

Lavender Oil

On the bruised portion, lavender oil can also be applied. This gives relief from pain.

Comfrey Leaves

Comfrey leaves can be ground to form a paste that can be applied at the bruised region of cuts or wounds. Use of comfrey is restricted in countries such as UK and U.S. so consult your local health specialist before use. [1]

Parsley

Parsley leaves can also be spread over the wound, then covered by a bandage.

Spinach, Broccoli and Lettuce

According to University of Iowa Health Care, it is good to consume spinach, broccoli, and lettuce, since they are rich in vitamin K, which is an important factor in clotting. [2]
