Yoga and meditation are sure to provide relief from anxiety. Every day, a twenty to thirty-minute session will provide relaxation for your mind and body. A body massage or hair massage will soothe your body and improve blood circulation. This will surely provide some relief.

Regular Workouts

One of the easiest and simplest ways to reduce anxiety is to exercise regularly. Certain exercises, even walking, provides you with mental satisfaction. Regular workouts not only keep your body and soul healthy, but they even aid in relaxing your mind. This type of regular workout leads to the secretion of serotonin, a chemical important for brain function. This leads to the activation of the munificent and pleasant senses. You can also fight against anxiety disorders by maintaining a nutritious diet. There are a few herbs that are quite relaxing for both the mind and body. If these herbs are included in your daily diet, then the level of anxiety drops considerably.

A few of the herbs that are commonly used are balm, hops, thyme, cloves, orange blossom wood betony, lavender, chamomile, and skullcap. Green vegetables such as spinach and almonds are quite rich in magnesium, which is a very good stress-buster.

Healthy Social Life

Try and keep yourself busy. Never sit idle, as it permits your mind to waver in the dark regions. Keep yourself busy with your family and friends. A healthy social life will keep you active and full of energy. Plan for a night out at a movie or go to some exhibitions. Never hesitate to speak your heart and mind. Things that are left unsaid often bring unhappiness and anxiety. Plan a family weekend getaway. This will fill your heart with new energy and enthusiasm, a powerful way to counteract this disorder.

Mental Satisfaction

Devote some time to a social cause. This will give you mental satisfaction and get over your anxiety. Go to some orphanage or an old-age home. Spend time with them and make a difference in their life. Playing with your pet can easily bring a smile to your face. If you don’t have a pet, get one and spend time with it. It can be an amazing stress-buster.

What is anxiety?

There are many different types, and some of them are a normal part of the human experience; for example, feeling anxious in anticipation of stressful events (taking an exam, or speaking before a crowd) is essentially a normal emotional response. Anxiety disorders, in contrast, are maladaptive emotional, behavioral and cognitive responses to real and imagined stressors.

How to deal with anxiety?

Dealing with your anxiety will depend, in part, on its nature. Typically, treatment involves counseling. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a key counseling technique that can be helpful in managing anxiety. This technique involves challenging maladaptive beliefs that contribute to your experience of anxiety. It may also be managed with medication.

How to deal with depression?

If you suffer from depression, a combination of medication (typically SSRIs) and counseling (with a strong cognitive-behavioral therapy component) is regarded as the ‘gold standard’ of treatment. You may also find lifestyle changes helpful, such as exercising more often, connecting with friends and loved ones, and making time for your hobbies.

What causes anxiety?

Anxiety can be caused by stress and trauma; there is also speculation about the role of genetics in certain kinds of anxiety disorders. Stress may come from school, work, problems in personal relationships, or money concerns; persons with traumatic histories, including neglect and abuse, may also be predisposed to developing anxiety.

How can you control your anxiety?

For ‘ordinary’ anxiety, simply taking a few deep breaths, or discussing the reasons for your anxiousness can be helpful. For more chronic anxiety problems, treatment can involve medications (such as SSRIs) combined with counseling, often with a strong cognitive-behavioral therapy component. This is essentially the same way that depression is managed, as anxiety and depression are often linked.

I had a very bad case of Pneumonia back in September 2011. I was very sick all the way up to March 2012. Half way between that I developed bad panic attacks, never before had them, so believe they were caused from being so sick. After being on Xanax I changed my diet around 100%. I got rid of my own sickness and the panic attacks and do not have to take xanax anymore.
