Are you sure that you have peeled the outside skin off the beet before using it? Beets sometimes have an 'earthy flavor' but more so if not peeled of their skin which tends to hold the dirt.

The high content of sugar/high glycemic count found in fruits & several vegetables should be eaten with a protein source to stop a blood-sugar spike. Thus, the old recipe of banana/peanut butter has more to it than just tasting good~ For healthy alternatives try eating fruit with hummus or almond butter (my favs) Try organic hard-boiled eggs over toast with a vegan hollandaise sauce made with avocados/oatmeal/soaked cashews/nutritional yeast/turmeric/lemon~

Here's a recipe. Boil the beets, blen with carnation milk, green fig, the skin and all, peanut butter, sweetened condensed milk, or honey for sweetness along with wheat germ and ice. It is absolutely delicious.

The article says something that seems to contradict something a friend told me. She said eating beets helps her gall bladder condition. But the article says people with gall bladder problems should avoid beets. I used to hate the taste of beets, but now I like them. Lately I've been eating them often.

what it means is because beets contain oxalates (substance that causes stones), people with kidney/gallbladder conditions should be careful due to the ease in formation of kidney stones/gallstones.

I have a juicer "Jack's". I use a medium size beet, 3 whole carrots, 1 large or 2 small apples, a sliver of ginger root. This is the best and natural way for handle constipation. How I love the taste of the beet.

i also use 1 kl carrots, 500gm beets & 2 apples in juicer.everyday i drink this juice with my family.
