WWOOF New Zealand is the organization that coordinates WWOOF activities in New Zealand. If you want to learn organic farming living with Kiwi families and experiencing their culture, WWOOF New Zealand will help you in getting connected to the right host. You can get a list of about 1,000 host farms listed with WWOOF Zealand by becoming a member of the organization, which was started in 1974 by Rob and Sue Lea.

New Zealand is one of the most popular destinations in the world for WWOOFing. The beautiful countryside in New Zealand is the big attraction for WWOOFers. Thousands of WWOOFers flock into New Zealand every year to learn organic farming and witness the countryside of the region.
WWOOFers can carry out a number of activities while on the host farms. These include organic farming and permaculture related techniques such as mulching and weeding, making compost, etc. You can also learn other arts such as making wine, cheese, bread, etc. Some hosts have also installed renewable energy systems such as wind mills, solar batteries, etc., on their farm. You can learn the functionality of these systems and try to make one when you go back home!
There is an age limit to become a member of WWOOF New Zealand. The minimum age for WWOOFing in New Zealand is 16 years. However, there are certain hosts who allow children on their farms. Check out the list of WWOOF Zealand for hosts that permit children. There is no upper age limit for WWOOFing in New Zealand.
The membership fee for joining WWOOF New Zealand is NZ $40. This membership is valid for a period of 18 months. Once a WWOOFers becomes a member of the organization, he/she will receive a printed version of its WWOOF book along with a membership code. Members can also access the WWOOF booklet online. Please note that if the WWOOF book is to be sent outside New Zealand, the membership fee is NZ $45.

The Immigration Department in New Zealand considers any activity where you get food and accommodation as work. Thus, though WWOOF involves voluntary work, it will be regarding as work in New Zealand and hence foreign nationals have to procure a work visa or a student visa they want to WWOOF in New Zealand. It should be noted that WWOOF New Zealand does not provide any assistance in procuring a visa.
