Fennel seeds

by Meenakshi Nagdeve last updated -

Acid reflux is characterized by the stomach muscles spasming and sending excess acid back towards the esophagus, which results in a painful burning sensation. Anti-spasmodic foods, such as fennel seeds, can significantly reduce this impulse of the stomach to push acid in the wrong direction. A specific compound found within fennel seeds, known as anethole, is responsible for this soothing relief. Fennel seeds can be chewed after a meal for immediate prevention of acid reflux, and this is the most popular method of consumption.
