In Ayurvedic tradition, there are many different treatment strategies for inflammation found within the body. Green gram is commonly used for all types of irritation, but it is particularly useful when treating disorders of the intestines or stomach, such as appendicitis. This inflammation of the appendix can be easily remedied by surgery, and a quick removal of the organ, but to soothe the painful symptoms, green gram can be very useful. You can consume 2-3 teaspoons of green gram each day until the symptoms disappear, or if you have the appendix taken out.
