Lime Juice

Limes and other citrus fruits are high in citric acid, and many people think that such high acidity would upset the stomach. In fact, when these juices are ingested, they act to alkalinize the blood, essentially soothing the stomach. Squeezing out half a lime and drinking it straight can produce this very rapid settling of the stomach. This has been used as a traditional remedy for diarrhea and other stomach issues for generations. The same is true of lemons and other highly citric fruits, but limes seem to be the most palatable.
