Although potatoes aren’t seen as hugely healthy forms of food, there are certain anti-inflammatory properties of potatoes that make them very important for the treatment of backaches. For hundreds of years, potatoes have been topically applied to areas of pain or inflammation on the back (and other parts of the body) and can have a measurable effect. Wrapping a raw potato in light cheesecloth and rubbing it on the sore part of your back can ease the muscle tension and reduce swelling of the tissues, allowing for normal flexibility and function.
